Larchfield House Open Day – Larchfield held a themed open day on Saturday the 24th of June. We had lots of Alice in Wonderland characters for our residents to see and talk about. From a pack of cards to the Cheshire cat the garden was decorated in a fun and bright manner including miniature doors provoking the imagination. The residents were able to sit out in the sunshine with their families enjoying the colourful garden. We had a lovely afternoon tea for everyone, sandwiches a plenty with crisps, along with lovely homemade cakes (these proved very popular especially the chocolate one). The garden was decorated in an Alice in Wonderland style a shoot off from the Hatters Tea Party. We had an art exhibition with hand painted pictures of some of the characters for the residents and families to look at which was a great focal point and conversational piece. As the weather was lovely we were able to make the most of the garden and the atmosphere created by the scenery and props. There was Face painting for the kids, featuring cards, hats and teapots being the most popular. Even some of the residents joined in and had theirs done creating a lot of fun and laughter. And for Ladies we had mini manicures, a little bit of pampering goes a long way. We set the mood with lovely classical music volume 3 Invitation to the Dance. The music was a mixture of excitement and then calm, perfect for our afternoon and just the right ambience.
