On the 19th of August, Larchfield House held its summer fete to raise money towards developing further its Dementia friendly garden. The residents and families who attended enjoyed not only the lovely weather (we were very lucky) but also the wonderful entertainment provided by Terry James who sang some great 50s, 60s and 70s songs. The residents sang along and some family members even danced away to the music. We also had two young ladies who put a dance together to perform they did an amazing job and perfected some twists and turns that provoked some wonderment. Our chef produced a wonder BBQ accompanied by varying salads, he always loves the alfresco cooking and the queue for the food was proof of the pudding. Again, we had some great cakes but these came a poor second to the BBQ. The garden which looked lovely was crowded making a wonderful atmosphere whilst the residents sat chatting and laughing with their families or carers. When it came to the raffle all ears were listening as the numbers were called and the winners were spoilt for choice as to what to choose from a slightly varied and wonderful prize collection. Kitchen wear, jewellery, toiletries to name a few and obviously some fine wines!! We were able to raise £311 towards our cause and I would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and helped to make the event a success.
